2027: Tinubu’s Aide Warns Jonathan — “Don’t Fall For Those Plotting To Destroy You

The Senior Special Assistant on Print Media to President Bola Tinubu, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has dismissed growing speculations that former President Goodluck Jonathan may return to active politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking with journalists in Kano, Abdulaziz said there was nothing to fear if Jonathan decided to run again, stressing that the former president’s past electoral loss as a sitting leader showed he posed no political threat to anyone, including President Tinubu.

He stated, “Someone who was defeated while holding the power of incumbency cannot suddenly become a threat. Of course, he can try his luck again — that’s the essence of democracy — but nobody is afraid of him, certainly not the President.”

Abdulaziz further noted that Jonathan’s political influence has waned over the years, adding, “If he couldn’t win as a sitting president, it’s unrealistic to think he’ll make a strong comeback now, considering the political realities and constraints around him.”

The presidential aide, however, cautioned Jonathan against being swayed by individuals seeking to use him for their own agenda.

“I believe there are people who will try to mislead him,” he warned. “He should not listen to those who want to destroy his legacy or push him into a political battle he cannot win. Doing so would only diminish the respect he still commands.”
