Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains unfazed by opposition efforts to build a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Uzodinma emphasized that Nigeria operates a partisan democratic system, not one based on coalitions. He insisted that only established political parties can effectively contest elections, not makeshift alliances formed out of desperation.

“We’re practising partisan democracy, not coalition democracy. In this system, political parties are the vehicles for contesting elections. If your party becomes irrelevant and you’re gasping for political survival, you must first regain stability before seeking alliances,” he said.

The governor reiterated that the APC is fully alert and focused, and won’t allow power to slip from its hands. He cautioned against distractions caused by early electioneering, noting that the current administration still has more than two years left in its mandate.

“You don’t change a winning team. We’ve seen where we came from, where we are now, and where we’re going. Ultimately, it’s Nigerians who will judge us—at the right time. But for now, we remain focused on delivering our mandate. We are not asleep. The APC is vigilant, and we won’t relinquish what we have built.”

He further highlighted the growth of the APC in Imo State as an example of the party’s strength, claiming that 79% of his former political opponents have since joined the ruling party.

“A political party is defined by its people. Today, the APC commands the majority in Imo. We are a united, forward-moving party, open to collaboration, but grounded in progress and performance,” he added.
