Stephen Osemwegie, a member of the Labour Party (LP) in Edo State, has officially announced his bid for the governorship position in the state.

During a meeting with LP national chairman Julius Abure at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Friday, Osemwegie expressed his commitment to providing quality leadership that Edo State has been lacking.

He firmly believes that the Labour Party, known for standing up for the people, is the right platform to achieve this change, drawing inspiration from the success of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Asserting his honesty, integrity, transparency, and positive attitude, Osemwegie aims to address the challenges faced by Edo State, particularly the alarming rate of unemployment, especially among the youth.

He believes that the state’s population possesses the intellect, energy, and capacity to flourish if provided with opportunities.

It is important to note that Edo State is currently governed by Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who won re-election for a second term in September 2020 and will hand over to a new administration next year.
