The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has said that governors recently met with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos to address urgent security concerns and discuss preparations ahead of the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) convention.
He made this known on Monday during his investiture ceremony as Patron of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in Abuja.
Sule explained that he first apologized to the people of Nasarawa State, especially leaders, for holding the event in Abuja instead of Lafia, citing a very tight schedule.
He noted that most governors were in Lagos the previous day for a meeting with the President, where they discussed critical national security issues after a luncheon session.
According to him, the discussions continued late into the night as governors also held their regular preparatory meetings ahead of the APC convention, which lasted until after 2 a.m.
He added that the demanding schedule made it impossible for him to travel back to Lafia for the ceremony, leading to a last-minute change of venue.
Sule further explained that he requested the event be moved to Abuja, and his request was accepted. He also expressed appreciation that a friend provided the venue where the investiture eventually took place.
