In addition to the donations for widows, Adeniyi provided writing materials, including books and mathematical sets, to customs service students in primary and secondary schools. Notably, 54 outstanding students received scholarships in recognition of their academic achievements.

Adeniyi emphasized that the initiative was intended to assure the wives of fallen officers that they remain in the thoughts of the association and will receive ongoing support within available resources. She highlighted her visit to the Ogun 1 Area Command as a demonstration of the Customs Service’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of the families of their officers.

Addressing the unique challenges faced by families of customs officers, especially those stationed in challenging border regions like Idiroko, Adeniyi acknowledged the struggles that come with their husbands’ duties combating smugglers, traffickers, and criminals. She encouraged the women to remain courageous and prayerful while inspiring their husbands to excel in their service to the nation.

“As wives and mothers, we experience the anxieties, fears, and sacrifices that come with having our loved ones on the frontlines,” she said. “The threat of danger is ever-present, and the pressure can weigh heavily on us too. But I encourage each of you to remain steadfast.”

Adeniyi urged the women to engage in capacity-building activities that would equip them to better support their families while contributing to national development. She emphasized the importance of upholding COWA’s core values of compassion, solidarity, and empowerment, and encouraged unity to advance the Ogun 1 Area Command.

Adenike Folu-Ojo, Chairperson of COWA at Ogun 1 Area Command, praised Adeniyi for her relentless efforts to provide support to the wives and children of both fallen and active officers. She noted that Adeniyi’s visit serves as a beacon of hope for these families, easing their burdens of loss.

Folu-Ojo expressed gratitude for Adeniyi’s leadership, stating that it inspires resilience and commitment among the women of Ogun 1 Area Command to provide emotional and material support to families in need. She pledged the support of COWA members in continuing the shared mission to enhance the well-being of the families of both serving and fallen officers.
