Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the announcement to State House correspondents following a Federal Executive Council meeting led by President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

Idris urged state governors to ensure fair distribution of the rice to those in greatest need. Each state and the FCT has received 20 trucks, totaling 1,200 bags of 25kg rice per truck.

He stated, “The council discussed the current food supply challenges affecting many Nigerians. Following thorough deliberations, the Minister of Agriculture was directed to facilitate the availability of food nationwide.”

Idris emphasized that this initiative is just the beginning, with the government committed to ongoing support for states to alleviate food shortages.

The council also called for swift implementation of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles, urging the presidential committee on CNG to accelerate efforts in supplying buses and making conversion kits accessible to Nigerians.

Additionally, there is a push for more conversion centers to enhance compliance with the CNG initiative, reducing reliance on PMS and supporting the transition to renewable energy.
