Bafarawa previously mentioned that while he intends to remain active in politics, he has no plans to run for any elective positions or accept political appointments in the future.

During a meeting with members of the Sokoto State Correspondent Chapel at his residence, the former governor shared his decision to step back from seeking political office after over 40 years of active involvement in politics.

He expressed, “It’s time to step aside and allow the younger generation to contribute to the nation’s development. I’ve been actively engaged in politics for over four decades, starting from when I became a councilor in 1976, and I’ve remained committed to politics since then.”

“I haven’t retired from politics altogether; I still plan to be involved in political activities, possibly until the end of my days. However, I am no longer pursuing elective positions or political appointments. I am grateful for what I’ve accomplished and the impact I’ve had during my political journey,” he added.
