Farah Dagogo, a former National Assembly member and ally of Atiku Abubakar, has been acquitted by a High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Dagogo, who represented the Degema-Bonny Constituency, was arrested last year, coinciding with his appearance at a PDP Governorship screening. Governor Nyesom Wike had alleged Dagogo’s involvement in disrupting the event with thugs and cultists, charges Dagogo vehemently denied as politically motivated to hinder his gubernatorial ambitions.
After over a year of legal proceedings and being on bail since mid-2022, Justice Chinwendu Nworgu ruled in Dagogo’s favor, criticizing the prosecution’s lack of diligence. The court’s decision acquits Dagogo of all charges, with his legal team emphasizing that no further legal action can be pursued against him in this matter, ensuring closure to the case.
