Madueke’s remarks came during a special novelty match held in honor of the late actor at Enugu’s Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. The event, which featured Rangers Football Club and other prominent figures, marked a significant moment in celebrating Mr Ibu’s comedic brilliance and impact on Nigerian entertainment.

“Mr Ibu was a unique and talented actor whose legacy brought people together to honor him,” Madueke stated in a statement shared with PUNCH Online. “The Enugu State Government takes pride in his achievements.”

The Central Planning Committee Chairman, Monday Ani, expressed gratitude to the Enugu State Government, Rangers FC, and all contributors who ensured the success of the event.

Celebrities, politicians, and industry leaders turned out in large numbers to pay their respects. Nollywood actors Charles Anwurem and Steve Eboh also paid tribute, emphasizing Mr Ibu’s enduring influence on their lives and careers.

Mr Ibu passed away on March 2, 2024, following a period of illness that had earlier prompted a public appeal for financial support. Despite health challenges, his spirit lives on through the joy he brought to audiences worldwide.
