Yobe Woman Arrested For Fatally Stabbing Husband

Police operatives in Yobe have detained Zainab Isa, a 22-year-old housewife, for allegedly fatally stabbing her 25-year-old husband, Ibrahim Yahaya, in Damaturu, the state capital.

According to Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesman for the state police command, the incident occurred following an argument at Abbari ward. The police received a complaint from a neighbor at around 10:00 am on June 26, 2024, after the couple’s argument escalated into a physical altercation around 9:00 am. Zainab Isa reportedly used a knife to stab her husband in the chest, resulting in his death before the police arrived.

Abdulkarim expressed sorrow over the tragic outcome of the couple’s dispute, describing Ibrahim Yahaya as a promising young man whose life was cut short due to the consequences of an abusive marriage.

During preliminary investigations, Zainab Isa confessed that she did not intend to kill her husband. She claimed she acted in self-defense during a violent episode where she was allegedly beaten and kicked, particularly distressing as she was still recovering from a recent medical operation following childbirth.
