ABUJA – A member of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), identified as a diligent and efficient operative, has tragically died by suicide at his residence in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja.
The deceased, who belonged to Course 5, was well-regarded for his diligent work and unassuming demeanor, according to a source at the commission’s headquarters.
“The deceased was known for his diligence and efficiency, and his sudden death has shocked everyone at the EFCC,” the source said.
EFCC spokesperson, Mr. Dele Oyewale, confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the suicide.
“We are currently investigating the incident to understand the reasons behind the operative’s tragic decision,” Oyewale stated.
He further emphasized that the EFCC is considering various factors, including mental health issues and personal challenges, that could have led to the operative’s depression.
Pending the conclusion of the investigation, the EFCC has withheld the name of the deceased operative.
