The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu for failing to address the lingering issues from the Muhammadu Buhari administration, accusing his government of exacerbating hardship and worsening the country’s economic situation.
In a statement posted on its official platform, the PDP asserted that President Tinubu’s economic policies have significantly contributed to a surge in inflation. The opposition party pointed to pervasive poor governance and ineffective leadership as the root causes of the hardships facing Nigerians.
“The leadership failures under Tinubu’s administration have plunged Nigerians into unprecedented hardship, worsening the already precarious economic and social conditions in the country,” the PDP stated.
Since assuming office in 2023, the APC-led administration’s policies and decisions, according to the PDP, have further deteriorated the living standards of Nigerians. A notable consequence has been the soaring cost of living, particularly evident in skyrocketing prices of essential commodities such as food, healthcare, fuel, and education. Many families are now struggling to meet their basic needs due to these economic pressures.
Furthermore, the PDP highlighted the administration’s failure to address critical infrastructure deficits, particularly in the power sector, which continues to suffer from frequent blackouts and unreliable electricity supply. This infrastructure inadequacy has not only hindered economic progress but has also exacerbated daily challenges for citizens dependent on consistent power supply.
The party also criticized the administration’s handling of the fuel subsidy issue, attributing it to a sharp increase in fuel prices that has made transportation and essential services unaffordable for many Nigerians. This, in turn, has triggered a ripple effect across the economy, driving up prices of goods and services.
In conclusion, the PDP condemned what it described as the Tinubu administration’s failure to fulfill its promises to Nigerians and effectively address the systemic issues inherited from the previous Buhari administration. The party underscored that Nigerians continue to endure hardships exacerbated by inadequate governance and policies that fail to prioritize their welfare.
