His comments come amid tensions with FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe, who criticized Wike for undertaking infrastructure projects deemed irrelevant to FCT residents.
Addressing critics during the flag-off ceremony, Wike remarked, “I don’t need permission from anyone other than the President who appointed me to decide on projects. Those unaware should know we’re making tangible progress beyond just roads.”
Meanwhile, Peter Ameh, former Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), condemned Wike’s recent statements regarding the 2027 elections, describing them as disrespectful to the electorate. Ameh emphasized that governance in Abuja differs significantly from Wike’s experience in Rivers State, citing concerns over project execution and accountability.
