Explaining the rationale behind the holiday shift, Dogondaji noted that while the 1st of Muharram falls on July 7th, the government has rescheduled the public holiday to July 8th to properly observe the significance of the Islamic New Year.

He extended Governor Nasir Idris’s felicitations to the Muslim community worldwide, urging them to uphold prayers for peace, security, and prosperity in Kebbi State and the entire nation.

“I convey the governor’s greetings to Muslims globally,” the commissioner added.
