Earlier, the Amotekun officers had apprehended around 120 cows accused of damaging farmlands in Osi and Igboba communities within the North Local Government Area. While transporting the cows to the Amotekun Command headquarters in Akure, the herders allegedly launched an ambush on them along the Akure-Ado expressway.

According to a source cited by PUNCH, “The officers were attacked by herders wielding dangerous weapons in the Sango area of Akure, attempting to prevent the removal of the cows.”

A viral video captured the moment some Amotekun officers fired shots into the air to fend off their assailants, while the injured were quickly evacuated into an Amotekun Hilux van.

Jimoh Adeniken, the Public Relations Officer of Ondo Amotekun, confirmed the incident and assured that investigations are ongoing.
