Ighodalo’s Feud With Obaseki Escalates Days After Court Ouster, PDP Campaign Crumbles In ChaosThe political landscape in Edo State is rapidly becoming a battlefield, with the latest rift between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his protégé, Asue Ighodalo, threatening to unravel the PDP’s campaign. The situation is further compounded by a recent High Court judgment from Abuja that invalidated the delegates list which saw Ighodalo emerge as the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Despite the party’s intention to appeal the judgment, the internal crisis within the PDP is far from over. Insiders reveal that Ighodalo has been avoiding Obaseki’s calls, signaling a severe breakdown in their relationship. This rift is reportedly rooted in Obaseki’s alleged attempts to derail Ighodalo’s campaign, causing a significant setback for the PDP.

The PDP faces a potential repeat of the electoral debacles experienced by the APC in Rivers and Zamfara states, where internal conflicts led to the party losing its candidates in the gubernatorial elections. The fear of a similar fate looms large over the PDP in Edo.

Ighodalo, previously seen as being heavily influenced by Obaseki, is now said to be enraged and determined to distance himself from the governor. However, rumors on the street suggest that this might be an uphill battle.

Allegations abound that Obaseki has heavily financed Ighodalo’s campaign, possibly using state funds and LGA council resources. If these claims hold water, both Obaseki and Ighodalo could face severe legal repercussions should a new administration take over.

The unfolding drama raises critical questions about the future of Edo State’s leadership. If the allegations of misuse of state resources are true, it not only casts a shadow on Obaseki’s tenure but also on Ighodalo’s candidacy. The electorate must now weigh these factors heavily as they head to the polls.
