Maku called upon Northern governors to prioritize addressing insecurity, which he emphasized as a major obstacle to the region’s development. He highlighted the impact of insecurity on agriculture, noting that when farmers cannot tend to their fields, food production declines, leading to increased living costs.

“If I were a governor in the North today, my primary focus would be to ensure peace in my state,” Maku asserted. He criticized the prevalence of violence, terrorism, and banditry in the North, stressing that these issues have severely affected Nigeria’s socio-economic stability.

Maku also underscored the importance of leadership in fostering unity and urged leaders to unite the nation through inclusive policies. He called for improved economic management, particularly emphasizing the need for effective monetary policies to stabilize the Naira and support local industries.

“In the current dispensation, we must manage the economy effectively to alleviate the hardships faced by our people,” Maku stated. He warned about the consequences of a depreciating Naira, which could discourage local production and compel businesses to relocate from Nigeria.
