Speaking at a stakeholders summit in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Ribadu, represented by his Special Adviser on Energy Security and Niger Delta Affairs, outlined the administration’s plan to establish a dedicated security directorate for the Niger Delta.

This directorate will oversee and implement the President’s security initiatives in the region, marking a shift from predominantly kinetic military operations to a more integrated strategy incorporating non-kinetic measures.

Ribadu emphasized that Tinubu’s approach will prioritize security alongside human and socio-economic development, aiming to foster a stronger democratic culture in the Niger Delta.

“Our focus will be on security through the lens of human and socio-economic development,” Ribadu affirmed. “This aligns with the President’s objective to uphold democratic principles and promote sustainable development in the Niger Delta.”

Assuring stakeholders, Ribadu promised a comprehensive engagement strategy to support President Tinubu. This strategy will outline a detailed presidential policy on Niger Delta security in line with the broader ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.

“We anticipate that the President will personally articulate policy directives that will shape his security management approach for the sustainable development of the Niger Delta under the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda,” Ribadu concluded.
