In a unanimous ruling, the tribunal ordered Danmaje to pay 500,000 naira in damages to the petitioner. The judgment, delivered by a three-member panel chaired by Justice Ashu A. Ewah, declared Danmaje’s election null and void.

Justices Helen HammanJoda and Ali Changbo, part of the panel, found that both the 2023 elections and the rerun on February 3, 2024, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), were marred by malpractices, rendering them inconclusive.

The tribunal has directed INEC to organize another rerun election within the next 90 days for two affected polling units in the Shagari local government area. Additionally, INEC is to withdraw the certificate of return previously issued to Danmaje.

This decision aims to ensure a new election free from the identified irregularities in the electoral process.
