Akpabio made these comments at a Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) event in Rivers State. His remarks come as preparations are underway for a nationwide protest against rising inflation and the escalating cost of living, set to begin on August 1.

In response, Shaibu took to X, condemning Akpabio’s comments as reckless given the current tense situation. He argued that security forces should focus on questioning individuals like Akpabio rather than the APC attacking Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Shaibu wrote, “Is Akpabio perpetually confused, or was this just another episode of his series ‘Stupidity: The Special Edition’? How can a Senate President think it’s appropriate to use such reckless language in an already tense environment? This is the kind of character security agents should be questioning, not the APC attacking @PeterObi. #shame”
