Obi believes that a presidential address could help alleviate the tension caused by the protests. Speaking from his residence in Onitsha, Anambra State, he stated, “My appeal is for the President to come out and address the nation. He is the one the people elected, holding their mandate, and should not delegate this crucial communication to aides.”

Obi also clarified reports suggesting he was in Abuja supporting the protesters, stating, “I am here in Onitsha; I cannot be in both places at once.” He urged protesters to avoid violence and pursue their demands legally. Additionally, Obi extended his condolences to the families of those who died in the protests and expressed sympathy for those injured or who lost property.
