The court also ordered that Nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who treated Mohbad, and driver Fidelis Esanbor, who transported him to the hospital, be served similarly.
Magistrate T. A. Sotobi granted the application filed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, on August 16, 2024. The court permitted service of witness summons through national newspapers and social media to ensure the witnesses’ attendance.
The legal team, led by Mr. Wahab Shittu SAN, argued that substituted service was necessary due to unsuccessful attempts to serve the witnesses through traditional court methods. They requested that the summons be published in reputable newspapers and on social media platforms.
Additionally, the court approved a request to recall Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and the IPO, ASP Muhammad Yusuf, to provide clarity on new issues arising in the investigation.
Mohbad died under suspicious circumstances on September 12, 2023, leading to extensive public and legal scrutiny. A special police investigation team was formed on September 18, 2023, and the singer’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023.
