While the students have been freed, details about the rescue operation remain limited at this time.

Naija News recalls that the students, traveling to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu, were ambushed on their journey. The students, traveling in a convoy of two buses from the northern part of the country, were attacked on Thursday evening around 5:30 pm.

The day after their abduction, the kidnappers contacted the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of ₦50 million for their release.
