The victims lost their lives on Wednesday when bandits ambushed them on their way to their farms in Anguwan village.

Garba expressed concern that the withdrawal of troops from Allawa and other affected communities had undermined the government’s efforts to combat insecurity in the state. He urged the military to reconsider and return to these areas to provide full security coverage for the predominantly farming population.

“I appeal to our military to see the need to return to Allawa and other vulnerable areas to ensure the safety of our people, who are mostly farmers,” Garba stated.

He also noted that the administration led by Governor Bago had implemented strategies to enhance security, particularly along key roads in Shiroro Local Government, such as those in Kuta, Gwada, Zumba, and Erena.

Malam Isah Allawa, the father of one of the victims, shared the tragic details of the attack, revealing that eight people were shot by the bandits, while five others drowned in a river while attempting to escape.

“My son, Mubarak Isah, was among those killed. The bandits caught them by surprise, separated the people from Allawa and those from Kagara in Rafi Local Government. They allowed those from Kagara to leave but tied the hands of those from Allawa behind their backs before killing them,” he recounted.
