The initial phase will offer free rides, with trains running four trips daily between Oyingbo and Agbado. This new line, part of Lagos’ Strategic Transport Master Plan, is one of six rail lines and a monorail planned for the city and will also connect Lagos to Ogun State, where many workers and business owners in Lagos reside.

Ojelabi highlighted that this milestone follows extensive planning, staff training, security installations, and a successful six-week trial run. Starting today, the Red Line will operate with non-fee-paying passengers in organized groups to gather feedback before commercial operations begin.

This partial launch represents a significant advancement towards the Lagos State Government’s goal of creating a modern, efficient, and integrated transportation system. The first phase of the Red Line, stretching 27 kilometers from Agbado to Oyingbo, aims to provide a dependable and affordable transportation alternative, alleviate traffic congestion, and enhance the quality of life for Lagos residents.
