The Presidency has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of employing tactics reminiscent of Donald Trump in his recent criticisms of federal government policies. Ajayi made these remarks on Wednesday in response to Atiku’s criticism of Tinubu’s subsidy policy, the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) deal with OVH, owned by Wale Tinubu, and other government initiatives. He claimed that Atiku is determined to stay in “election mode” until the next general election by spreading misinformation.
Ajayi stated, “We are in a political environment where politicians like Alhaji Atiku are constantly plotting and scheming, using both fair and foul means, but it should not be this way. After all the divisive rhetoric of the election campaign, the nation deserves a period of healing, where the focus should be solely on nation-building and governance. However, Alhaji Atiku is unwilling to step back.
“He wants to remain in election mode until the next electoral season, spreading falsehoods on a large scale to construct his own version of reality. He is following the Trumpian playbook, constantly pushing out falsehoods in the hope that they will eventually gain traction and be believed by the public.”
