A Strategy Dead On Arrival: Obaseki’s Attempt To Use Rema For Political Gainby Comrade Omo-Egharevba Osaretin VictorGodwin Obaseki’s recent desperate move to install his godson Asua Ighodalo, as his successor has taken a new turn. In a blatant attempt to sway the hearts of Edo youths, he plans to exploit Rema’s immense popularity among Edo youths who adore the young musician. This desperation was glaringly evident when top Edo state government officials wearing Asua Ighodalo’s campaign caps received Rema today at the Benin Airport leaving no doubt about Obaseki’s intentions.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HEREā¶
Obaseki’s strategy is clear: he aims to replicate the ‘Davido Effect’ that significantly contributed to his uncle’s victory in the Osun state governorship election in 2022. However, he grossly underestimates the political savvy and discernment of Edo youths, who are renowned for their astuteness and ability to see through such political gimmicks.
This move is not only a blatant attempt to manipulate the youths but also a testament to Obaseki’s growing desperation. Edo youths, known for their political awareness and activism will not be swayed by such superficial tactics. This strategy is dead on arrival, and Obaseki would do well to rethink his approach.
Nevertheless, I wish Rema a successful show and hope that he will not be dragged into the murky waters of Edo politics.
