Obaseki’s strategy is clear: he aims to replicate the ‘Davido Effect’ that significantly contributed to his uncle’s victory in the Osun state governorship election in 2022. However, he grossly underestimates the political savvy and discernment of Edo youths, who are renowned for their astuteness and ability to see through such political gimmicks.

This move is not only a blatant attempt to manipulate the youths but also a testament to Obaseki’s growing desperation. Edo youths, known for their political awareness and activism will not be swayed by such superficial tactics. This strategy is dead on arrival, and Obaseki would do well to rethink his approach.
