Ozigbo accused Soludo of using the state’s House of Assembly to pass laws aimed at undermining opposition parties in the forthcoming local government elections. In a statement posted on Saturday via his X handle, Ozigbo, who was previously a governorship candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), advised the Labour Party to remain resilient and field strong candidates for the council elections.

He stated, “Governor Soludo, in his usual manner of portraying himself as ‘the smartest in the room,’ has rushed to pressure the State House of Assembly into amending the Anambra Electoral Act. This is a calculated move to rig the election and install his loyalists in an attempt to secure his re-election bid. However, while this illegal act is destined to fail, we must not fall into the trap of boycotting the so-called election. Instead, we must use every opportunity to show that the people of Anambra are tired of waiting for the promised transformation into Dubai and Taiwan. Worse, we can’t even visit our homes safely, and those who remain in the state live in constant fear! The economy of Anambra has been crippled, leaving our people to struggle in poverty.

“I have recommended to the leadership of our party and some of our elected members that we should present candidates with the capacity, character, and compassion to bring about meaningful change at the grassroots level. This is essential, despite the need to challenge certain unreasonable provisions in the amended act that conflict with national laws and common sense.

“The Governor does not deserve another term, and we will continue to oppose his harmful schemes at every opportunity.
