Anas was reportedly kidnapped in the Project Quarters area of Lafia metropolis on Friday, August 23, 2024.
A friend, Abdullahi Musa Aboki, confirmed the devastating news in a Facebook post on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
“In loving memory of my dear friend Anas, whose life was brutally taken by kidnappers despite our collective efforts to save him. The ransom was paid, but their hearts were stone-cold. Your senseless murder has left us with unbearable pain and a deep sense of injustice. Your bright smile, kind heart, and infectious laughter were extinguished too soon. May your soul find peace, and may those responsible face the full weight of justice. Your memory will never fade, and your legacy will live on in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Anas,” he wrote.
In a separate incident, a landlord was kidnapped on Kurape Road, Anguwar Kokosa, Karshi Bypass, a town near Abuja.
The abduction occurred on Thursday night, August 29, 2024, between 10 and 11 PM, during a heavy rainstorm.
The kidnappers, armed with dangerous weapons, breached the property by drilling through the fence and breaking the window of the master bedroom.
Neighbors who spoke to the Nigerian Tribune said the noise from the victim’s generator masked the sounds of the intrusion.
It was later discovered that the kidnappers had poisoned the victim’s dog the previous day with a piece of meat thrown over the fence.
The dense, tall crops on nearby vacant plots provided cover for the kidnappers as they executed their plan.
The kidnappers have since contacted the family with a ransom demand, which is reportedly very high.
