An undetermined number of nurses have been taken hostage by bandits who recently raided a Primary Health Care Center in Kaduna State. According to Naija News, the incident occurred in Layin Dan Auta village, located within the Kuyello Ward of the Birnin Gwari Area.
Reports indicate that the assailants initially targeted a primary school on the outskirts of Kuyello. Finding no students present, they redirected their attack to the nearby healthcare center, where they seized the nurses on duty.
A local leader, who requested anonymity, confirmed the event to Daily Trust, describing it as alarming. “The bandits arrived in the area and first went to the school, expecting to find students. When the school was empty, they moved to the PHC in Kuyello and took the nurses who were there,” the source stated.
Baba Isah, a youth leader from Kuyello, also corroborated the incident, noting that two nurses were present during the raid. It remains unclear if any patients were abducted, as most had already left the facility.
As of now, there has been no official response from the state government or police regarding the incident.
