Senator Olaka Nwogu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Disciplinary Committee, has dismissed reports claiming that the party summoned Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State. The alleged summons was said to be related to accusations of anti-party activities and his ongoing conflict with Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara.
In a public statement, Nwogu, who represented Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, strongly refuted these claims, calling them baseless. He clarified that the PDP’s Disciplinary Committee has not held any meetings regarding Minister Wike and expressed concern over the spread of misinformation.
Nwogu suggested that individuals with inside knowledge of the party may be fueling these false claims for personal reasons, and he criticized those responsible for distorting the truth.
“As a member of the party’s disciplinary committee, I was alarmed by reports claiming that Nyesom Wike had been summoned, especially since the committee has not even convened to address such issues,” Nwogu stated.
He further condemned the spread of rumors, noting, “There is a lot of misinformation, even from people who should know better. These false claims serve their own interests.”
Nwogu also explained that the committee is still in the process of organizing its activities and condemned the efforts to misrepresent its purpose. He stressed that the committee has not yet begun addressing any allegations, contrary to the rumors circulating.
