Nigerian Army troops in Kaduna State have successfully rescued 13 kidnapped students, comprising six males and seven females. The operation took place in Chigbolu village, Kachia Local Government Area, following a fierce gun battle with terrorists.

According to a statement from the Nigerian Army, the rescue operation was part of a broader offensive against terrorism and insurgency. The troops, acting on reliable intelligence, engaged in an intense firefight with the terrorists, leading to the liberation of the kidnapped students and the seizure of a significant arsenal of weapons. The statement revealed that the operation resulted in the elimination of several insurgents and the capture of others.

On September 12, 2024, the troops managed to recover an AK-47 rifle, 87 rounds of 7.63mm ammunition, four magazines, a locally fabricated rifle, and N192,220. Additionally, they seized five solar panels, five mobile phones, dry rations, and clothing items. The rescued individuals have been taken to the 1 Division Medical Services and Hospital for treatment.

In a separate operation within the same local government area, the Army apprehended two individuals involved in terrorist logistics, identified as Mallam Usman Waikili and Salisu Idris. The suspects were found with N1,306,700, three SIM cards, two mobile phones, three national identity cards, eight ATM cards, two Moniepoint PoS machines, and an MTN MiFi.

Furthermore, the troops also attacked a terrorist hideout, killing three terrorists, capturing three others, and recovering N4 million and other dangerous weapons from the scene.
