Michael Anugwa, the Deputy Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and officer in charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kirikiri, Lagos, has denied rumors of his suspension from the service. remarks came after Ja’afaru Ahmed, the secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), announced on Thursday that both Anugwa and Sikiru Adekunle, another deputy controller of corrections at the MSCC, had been suspended. Anugwa countered this statement, saying, “It was a social media report. I wasn’t served a letter,” thus denying any formal notice of suspension.

The committee is particularly examining the conditions surrounding the incarceration and alleged preferential treatment of Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, a prominent crossdresser, during his time at MSCC. In related news, Bobrisky’s lawyer, Avwerosuoghene Omuvwie, explained that his client was unable to appear personally before the House of Representatives due to health issues.
