Abioye, Aremu To Exit Deputy Roles Under Oyedepo Next WeekThe Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, is set for a major leadership transition as its two Vice Presidents, Bishops David Abioye and Thomas Aremu, are poised to retire after serving for over 40 and 30 years, respectively. Church insiders, including an unnamed pastor, confirmed the impending retirements to Punch on Thursday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This decision follows the church’s recently updated operational manual, The Mandate, which lowered the retirement age for its leaders from 60 to 55 years. Speculation among church members suggests that the retirements will coincide with Bishop David Oyedepo’s birthday celebrations.

One church member shared, “We’ve heard that Bishops Abioye and Aremu will step down during Bishop Oyedepo’s birthday celebration. The new rule allows only Bishop Oyedepo to serve for life. One of the bishops had been considering leaving for some time, so this is not a surprise to some of us.”

Bishop Abioye, 63, and Bishop Aremu, 67, will retire under the revised policy, which permits only the founder, Bishop Oyedepo, to serve beyond the age limit. Future church leaders will be allowed to serve one or two terms of seven years each, pending approval from the Board of Trustees.

According to Church Times, farewell services are planned for both bishops. Bishop Abioye’s valedictory service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Durumi branch in Abuja, while Bishop Aremu’s will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at LFC Basorun in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Bishop Abioye, currently the Senior Pastor of Living Faith Church in Goshen City, Abuja, has had a close relationship with Bishop Oyedepo since 1979. He led one of the church’s pioneer branches in 1987 and was consecrated as a bishop in 1993 at the age of 32. Bishop Aremu, formerly an accountant, transitioned to full-time ministry and was among seven bishops consecrated in November 1999 at the Garden of Faith in Kaduna.
