“Acting on this information, the DPO, along with operatives from the division, conducted a discreet investigation. On October 21, 2024, around 7:00 PM, Hon. Ndubisi Okechukwu, a two-term councillor from Emu-Uno, was apprehended,” the statement detailed.

During questioning, Okechukwu reportedly confessed to the allegations and mentioned that he had been suspended from his councillor position. He further revealed that his intention was to kidnap the woman because he believed the Local Government would pay the ransom, as she was close to the local government chairman.
