Footage from the robbery, which has gone viral, depicts the robber attacking another woman while the house help observes.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed that the victim is a 20-year-old Somali domestic worker named Hakimo Muhidin, who fortunately survived the brutal attack. He noted that a report was filed at the Starehe police station, prompting an immediate investigation.

Kanja assured the public that law enforcement is actively pursuing leads to locate the suspects and ensure community safety.

According to police, the primary suspect, captured on CCTV, forced entry into the building using a hammer. The assailant, believed to be a Ugandan national, gained access to the sixth floor with the help of the house help, identified as Everlyne, also from Uganda.

Upon entry, the assailant severely assaulted Muhidin, aided by Everlyne.

Investigators reported that various valuable items were stolen during the incident, including gold jewelry, an undisclosed amount of cash in Kenyan shillings and U.S. dollars, as well as four laptops belonging to the family.

The victim sustained serious injuries, including a broken tooth and trauma to her hand, head, and legs. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) noted that she exhibited signs of having been whipped, with visible marks on her back.

After receiving medical treatment, Muhidin was discharged and is now recovering at a relative’s home, grappling with the trauma of the incident.

Authorities are also searching for the house help, who had only joined the household three weeks before the robbery and managed to flee with the assailant.

At the time of the incident, the tenant was not at home, as he was out with his children, while his wife was reportedly in India for medical treatment, according to police reports.

A specialized team of detectives has been assembled to investigate the case further.
