A British doctor who wore a disguise to inject his mother’s partner with a fake COVID-19 booster in a bid to kill him over a dispute concerning inheritance has been sentenced to 31 years in prison. Dr. Thomas Kwan, 53, pleaded guilty to attempting to murder 72-year-old Patrick O’Hara. His actions resulted in O’Hara developing a rare, life-threatening flesh-eating disease.

Kwan had initially denied the charge but changed his plea following the prosecution’s presentation of the case. Judge Mrs. Justice Lambert condemned Kwan’s audacious plan, stating that he “nearly succeeded in his objective.” The victim, O’Hara, described excruciating pain after the injection, which he likened to his arm being “on fire,” and required extensive hospital treatment, including plastic surgery.
