The National President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Yerima Shettima, has called on President Bola Tinubu to revise economic policies that fail to provide hope for Nigerians. Shettima emphasized the importance of sensitivity in governance, urging the government to create policies that allow Nigerians to “breathe” and recover from economic pressures. “There is nothing wrong with dropping a policy that does not bring hope. The government must introduce policies that uplift Nigerians,” he stated.

He further highlighted that successful policies in other countries might not necessarily work in Nigeria, urging leaders to tailor solutions to the nation’s unique circumstances. “This country is richly blessed, and there’s no reason for Nigerians to suffer like this if the government becomes more sensitive to the people’s plight,” he said.

While acknowledging that it may be too early for a comprehensive assessment of Tinubu’s administration, Shettima insisted that Nigerians expect visible progress, particularly in tackling hunger, insecurity, and economic instability.

He also criticized the previous administration under Muhammadu Buhari, attributing the current economic woes to its policies and warning that undoing the damage would take years. “The government cannot reverse all the mess in four years, but Nigerians need to see conscious efforts toward relief and improvement,” Shettima added.
