It’s A Scam!: Atiku Rejects Viral ₦65,000 Empowerment Scheme

The initiative, promoted by a group named “Travelling Abroad Opportunities,” has been circulating on social media platforms, claiming to offer ₦65,000 to successful applicants who fill out an application form and provide personal details such as their name, account number, and bank information.

In a statement released to BushRadio, Paul Ibe, Media Adviser to Atiku, clarified that the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not involved in any empowerment scheme offering ₦65,000. He emphasized that no organization affiliated with Atiku is running such an initiative.

The statement read: “We have been made aware of a group called ‘Travelling Abroad Opportunities’ promoting the so-called ‘Atiku Grant by FG’ on social media. This alleged program is claiming to provide ₦65,000 to successful applicants after they complete an application form and provide their bank details.

“To be absolutely clear, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria (1999-2007) and Presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (2023), is not involved in any empowerment scheme offering ₦65,000 to applicants. Furthermore, no organization connected to Atiku Abubakar is running any such initiative.

“The ‘Atiku Grant by FG’ is a scam designed to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard-earned money. We urge the public not to engage with this fraudulent scheme, which is misleading citizens into believing it is associated with Atiku Abubakar.”
