The Real Reason I Stopped Supporting Atiku Abubakar – Reno Omokri Reveals

Omokri, who had been a long-time ally of Atiku, now backs the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a political rival of Atiku. In an interview with Tribune, Omokri, a pastor and social media influencer, shared the reasons behind his decision to part ways with Atiku after the 2023 general elections.

He said, “I helped Atiku Abubakar assemble his Media Team and brought in a few people who served well. However, some turned out to be backstabbers and were disloyal to me personally. I gave Atiku the chance to correct things because loyalty should be reciprocated. I was 100% loyal to him, and I expected the same in return. When he failed to act, I didn’t make my decision public until I spoke directly to him, saying, ‘Because of what has happened, I can no longer support you, and I will align with others.’”

Omokri further revealed that he had already decided to leave Atiku’s camp before the 2023 elections. “I confided in a trusted person between me and Atiku, telling them that, win or lose, I would part ways with Atiku after the election because of these issues. The person is still alive,” he stated.

He also expressed that Atiku continues to face challenges in recognizing the difference between loyalty and sycophancy. Despite his discontent, Omokri acknowledged Atiku’s potential, saying, “Atiku has the qualities needed to be Nigeria’s leader, and he is nearly on the same level as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
