This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the State Publicity Secretary, Tim Nyor. The nomination follows the expiration of the tenure of previous BoT members.
According to Nyor, the decision aligns with Sections 32(1)(g) and 32(4) of the PDP Constitution and was communicated through a letter from the party secretariat, signed by the State Secretary, Dan Nyikwagh.
The party highlighted Ortom’s extensive experience and unwavering dedication to the PDP as key factors in his selection.
“After thorough deliberation, the SWC, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Awulu Adaji, unanimously endorsed you for the position, acknowledging your significant contributions to the party, exemplary leadership, and commitment to its progress,” Nyor stated.
The committee expressed confidence that Ortom’s role on the BoT will enhance the party’s strategic direction and strengthen its influence, particularly as it prepares for upcoming elections.
The PDP also emphasized that Ortom’s involvement would reinforce the party’s unity in Benue State and ensure the state’s interests are well represented within the national party structure.
“With this nomination, Chief Ortom is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the policies and direction of the PDP, not just in Benue State but across Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
