A video capturing the moment went viral on Tuesday, showing a man taking down the former speaker’s portrait, which had been displayed alongside those of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The video, posted on the official X (formerly Twitter), emerged after Obasa’s impeachment on Monday over allegations of financial misconduct.
The footage depicted a man carefully removing Obasa’s portrait, marking his formal exit as Speaker of the House.
This removal signifies the end of his nearly 10-year tenure as the Speaker of the Lagos Assembly.
Mojisola Meranda, formerly the Deputy Speaker, was elected as the new Speaker, making history as the first woman to hold the position in the state.
