In a statement released on Wednesday, Aminu Gamawa, the Chief of Staff to the Bauchi State Governor, dismissed Tuggar’s comments as “opportunistic and desperate,” accusing the minister of seeking political relevance and being disconnected from the realities of governance.

“Tuggar’s attack on Governor Bala Mohammed is merely an attempt to remain politically relevant by targeting a leader whose agricultural policies have transformed Bauchi into a hub of economic activity,” Gamawa stated.

Highlighting Governor Mohammed’s achievements, Gamawa pointed to initiatives such as the Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme, which has provided locals with skills in fish farming, animal husbandry, and cash crop production, creating thousands of jobs for farmers and youths.

He further criticized Tuggar’s lack of awareness, saying, “If Tuggar had spent more time in Bauchi State instead of gallivanting across foreign capitals, he would have seen firsthand the transformation brought about by Bala Mohammed.”

The statement also dismissed Tuggar’s criticism of the state’s land use policies as a baseless smear campaign. It defended Mohammed’s Tiamin Rice Project, which has significantly boosted the state’s economy and provided thousands of jobs. Gamawa accused Tuggar of grossly misrepresenting large-scale agricultural initiatives by labeling them as “land grabbing,” asserting that such remarks reflect a lack of understanding of economic development strategies.

“Yusuf Tuggar’s attempts to undermine Bala Mohammed are desperate and futile. His poor performance as Foreign Affairs Minister and his detachment from Bauchi’s progress render his criticisms hollow and unconvincing. Tuggar should focus on his own shortcomings instead of making baseless attacks on Governor Mohammed,” Gamawa concluded.
