In an interview with Edmund Obilo, which has gone viral on social media, Akande claimed that the #EndSARS protests were heavily funded and supported from the United States before being implemented in Nigeria.
He asserted that the Obidient movement masterminded the #EndSARS protests, with the ultimate goal of undermining Tinubu. According to him, after the protests, the group attempted to form a political party, and when that failed, they aligned themselves with an existing party.
“EndSARS was designed to end Tinubu. Those behind EndSARS knew what they were doing,” Akande stated.
When asked to name those behind the #EndSARS movement, Akande responded, “The Obidients.” He further alleged, “The Obidients were behind EndSARS; it was manufactured in America and brought in just to stop him (Tinubu). They later became a movement to form a party, and when they couldn’t form one, they joined another party.”
Pressed by the interviewer about the link between the Obidient movement and Peter Obi, Akande replied, “Well, maybe Obi’s party, I don’t know. Maybe Obi’s movement, I don’t know. But the Obidients were behind EndSARS.”
