PDP Urges Peace: ‘Wike And Bala Mohammed Must Mend Fences For Party Unity

The party’s leadership has urged both politicians to resolve their differences for the sake of the party’s unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

At the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and BoT Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, expressed concern over the escalating internal tensions within the party.

Wabara called on all disgruntled members to put aside their grievances, warning that unresolved conflicts could undermine the party’s prospects for the 2027 elections.

The rift between Wike and Bala Mohammed resurfaced last week when the Bauchi governor criticized the tax reform bills proposed by the Tinubu administration, claiming they would impose a financial burden on state economies.

Wike, through his media aide Lere Olayinka, responded by accusing Mohammed of trying to sabotage progressive economic policies.

In turn, Mohammed labeled Wike a “transactional politician,” claiming his political career had been marked by betrayals and opportunistic alliances.

Despite the ongoing back-and-forth, some PDP leaders have downplayed the impact of the feud on the party’s cohesion.

The PDP National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, dismissed the clash as a personal dispute, emphasizing that it would not affect the party’s stability.

Likewise, Deputy National Youth Leader Timothy Osadolor suggested that the All Progressives Congress (APC) might be stoking the conflict, claiming that the ruling party is concerned about PDP’s potential resurgence in the 2027 elections.
