Throw Him Overboard!’ Fubara’s Aide Calls For Damagum’s Removal In Explosive PDP Drama
The Special Assistant on Electronic Media to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Jerry Omatsogunwa, has called for the removal of Umar Damagum, the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an interview with Punch on Thursday, Omatsogunwa stated that the party must uphold the rule of law, describing the events at the PDP national secretariat on Wednesday as disgraceful.
He also criticized Samuel Anyanwu’s claim to the position of National Secretary, arguing that Anyanwu forfeited the role when he contested for an elective office.
Omatsogunwa blamed Damagum’s leadership for the PDP’s declining fortunes, claiming the party has lost control of several states since his appointment.
“For me, the way forward is to adhere strictly to the law. The PDP, as a law-abiding party, should have respected the court judgment declaring Anyanwu no longer the party’s secretary. Anyanwu’s grandstanding after losing at both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal is unnecessary. If you appeal to the Supreme Court, wait for the outcome and act accordingly,” he said.
Omatsogunwa also called for decisive action to restore order within the party. “For peace to reign, Anyanwu needs to step aside. Similarly, Damagum must be thrown overboard like the Biblical Jonah because of the turmoil his leadership has caused.
“Since his emergence as acting Chairman, the PDP has lost states under its control, much like what happened during Oshiomhole’s time in the APC,” he added.
