Reports indicate that the terrorists accused the residents of exposing their movements to security forces and ordered them to vacate the area within seven days or face deadly consequences.
Speaking to Sahara Reporters, a resident revealed that the insurgents stormed the communities over the weekend, firing shots indiscriminately before delivering the ultimatum.
“As the deadline approaches, many people have fled in large numbers,” the resident stated.
Describing the dire situation, another local lamented: “Boko Haram attacked our town and others, beating and harassing people. Now, they have given us one week to leave, or they will kill everyone. We desperately need help, but the media is silent. We hope this reaches the government. Many of us can’t even afford to travel or rent a place—we are suffering in extreme poverty.”
Another resident confirmed the threat, adding, “Yes, this is exactly what’s happening. We are searching for a way out, but unfortunately, the media is not discussing this. If I speak out, I could face threats.”
