Ex-Minister Calls For Immediate State OF Emergency In Osun, Blasts Adeleke’s Administration

Former Minister of Police Affairs, Oyewale Adesiyan, has called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Osun State due to the ongoing unrest, which includes political crises and communal clashes.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued yesterday in Osogbo, the state capital, Adesiyan invoked Section 305 of the Nigerian Constitution, emphasizing that the political instability and the failure of the state governor to manage the delicate situation make it necessary for the government to intervene and restore order.

He said, “Over the past few months, we have witnessed a breakdown of law and order in Osun State. Starting with the local government crisis, where the governor defied the Court of Appeal’s ruling and attempted to elevate the state High Court above the highest court of the land in an already resolved case. When the chief executive disregards the law, it leads to anarchy, resulting in the deaths of innocent people, including the reinstated Chairman of Irewole Local Government, Remi Abass.”

Adesiyan further criticized the governor’s incompetence in handling the situation and called for invoking the relevant constitutional provisions to restore peace. He also lamented the loss of many lives during the local government crisis and the recent communal clash, which led to further deaths and displacement of people.
