In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ibas highlighted that the appointment followed a thorough evaluation of Worika’s qualifications, experience, and outstanding performance during a rigorous selection process.
“Professor Worika holds a Ph.D. in International Environmental and Comparative Petroleum Law & Policy from the University of Dundee, UK. He has held prestigious positions in academia, international organizations, and as a government advisor,” the statement read.
Ibas further noted that Worika’s appointment is in line with the administration’s goal of utilizing the vast human capital of Rivers State to promote peace, stability, and security.
In a related development, Ibas also announced the resignation of George Nwaeke as the Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, expressing gratitude for his contributions. Ibas wished Nwaeke success in his future endeavors.
As a temporary measure, Dr. Mrs. Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, has been appointed Acting Head of Service until a new appointment is made.
