Tope Alabi Refuses To Perform At Lizzy Anjorin’s Birthday: Actress Responds With Strong Words

Reports indicate that Lizzy’s fan club had worked together with her husband to plan a surprise for her, which included a performance by Tope Alabi, who they said Lizzy deeply admired. However, when Tope and her husband, Soji Alabi, arrived at Lizzy’s clothing store in Lagos, they declined to perform after realizing it was for the movie star.

In response, Lizzy took to social media in a video, criticizing Tope for not performing after being paid ₦4 million. She emphasized that despite the situation, she would not tarnish the singer’s brand, which she said Soji Alabi had built with great sacrifices. Lizzy also referenced Tope Alabi’s past struggles with Prophet Ajanaku and her eventual rejection by the public, noting how she had supported Tope during that time.

Williams later clarified the situation in a statement titled “Concerning Evang. Tope Alabi and Lizzy Anjorin’s Birthday Surprise: An Unfortunate Conundrum”. He stated that ₦2.5 million, not the reported amount, was paid to the Alabis for the performance. Additionally, he mentioned that the cost of the surprise performance had been reduced by 70% due to Soji Alabi’s intervention.

Williams also raised questions about why the identity of the celebrant had been kept secret, noting that the Alabis were upset upon discovering it and felt misled. He further explained that the filmmaker who contacted him had initially given the impression that the surprise was personally funded, without revealing that it was a joint effort by a team.
